EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

oxstalls-main.jpg

UNIVERSITY OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE, P.G.S.C, POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN SPORTS CHAPLAINCY.

Graduated 2016

The Sport and Christian Outreach (Sports Chaplaincy) programme offered me the chance to investigate Sports Ministry further. The course was based upon the University of Gloucestershire's established track record in community sports development and sport and Christian outreach. The programme provision also draws upon the international reputation of Redcliffe College (Gloucester, UK) as a provider of excellent missionary training. The modules I studied were tailored towards Christian community work in sport and theology.

UNIVERSITY OF BEDFORDSHIRE, MA IN EDUCATION, PGCE, POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION.

Graduated 2013

Further to the PGCE qualification I completed my masters in 2013 and wrote my dissertation on the impact of Sport on Education. This study focuses on the theory that sport has a benefit to High School students in terms of their physical, social and mental well-being. Students were pre-selected in the study to measure the impact of how taking part in sport can influence their academic progress and behaviour in the classroom using active real life examples in my own classes.

After being successfully fingerprint checked by our club, Tim Chew has just run a six week course of goalkeeper coaching for children from the majority of our club’s 15 teams. This comprised a group of up to 20 boys and girls ranging in age from 9 to 15.
In our opinion the course was very well run and many of our coaches have already noticed an improvement in their goalkeepers’ technique and confidence. Tim kept the children interested and focused and interacted with them very well. We would have no hesitation in recommending Tim for any similar coaching work with children and young people, and indeed we would be pleased to use his services again in the future.

Sports Coach

I was pleased to have Tim as part of the Faculty. He was conscientious in his responsibilities and keen to develop and try out new teaching and learning strategies. He ran two training sessions for the teaching team. He offered interesting and insightful ideas during evaluation, and began implementing his ideas immediately. He worked to maintain positive classroom management strategies. Tim is keen to help out and run extra -curricular activities, attending training sessions and DoE camps. He also showed outstanding leadership skills in guiding his students to run a very successful and challenging evening fund raising event. I am positive about Tim’s future development as a teacher and enjoyed working with him. He is personable and was liked and appreciated by both staff and students. I have no doubt of the suitability of this candidate to work with young people..”

Teacher of Business & Leisure

Tim fulfilled his responsibilities with enthusiasm and motivation. He proved himself to be a reliable member of staff and made positive contributions on a variety of strategic issues. He took on the role of mentoring and met regularly with the student, contacted home and other staff and thus supported her as she prepared for her exams. He also willingly took on another student and supported him equally effectively. In addition, Tim has made a very good contribution to the school community. He has accompanied students on a French exchange visit, has assisted on a number of Duke of Edinburgh weekend expeditions and has helped with the delivery of sports activities. He has shown himself to be a keen, reliable and commited member of staff.
